No.76

Halloran enters The Overlook, passing right by the open lit window of The Torrance’s bathroom.

American History/Culture:

The door to enter has a medicine man symbol

Domestic abuse:

“Say like someone burns toast”

The viewer saw what went down in that bathroom. The light on is a reminder.

The Maze:

Kubrick as Unreliable Narrator:

This is how you know it’s a movie. Halloran walking right past the window, Wendy can’t get out—She heard the engines, but she’s not even heard screaming looking for help.

We’ve just seen Jack in The Kitchen, stalking towards Halloran. Now we see Halloran entering the hotel in the same space Wendy exited after being in The Kitchen with Jack in No.65.

The two spaces are connected in proximity, but we don’t know how.
