Domestic abuse:

Jack as the wolf:

Using intimidation “I’m right behind you” and focusing the light on Jack’s eyes.

Intimidation/force not being as effective as brainpower:

“You can’t get away / I’m right behind you”

Jack threatens and uses the same control tactic used in A79, but ultimately it proves to be false. Danny is able to trick Jack (using his brain) and then as Jack lumbers on to look for Danny (in the same threatening bullying way), Danny is able to escape.

Meanwhile, Jack has the very tool he would need to use to get out of the Maze, but his anger and rage have him too focused on killing Danny to realize.

Colors:

Yellow:

The shadow and yellow of Jack’s eyes are the shadow and the gold wallpaper in No.85.

Black + White:

The scenes with Danny and Jack are now essentially in black and white, setting us up for No.91, and reflecting back to the darkness in the first shot.

Ghost Story:

Jack is fulfilling his promise made to the ghost, Delbert Grady, in No.53, No.69.

Cabin Fever:

Jack is doing this because he hasn’t been able to leave the hotel.
