Advocaat is a Dutch egg liqueur. Because Grady spills it on Jack, its name and ingredients offer two possible wordplays: Grady is about to “egg Jack on,” and he becomes an advocate for Jack’s violence.
In the bathroom, Grady frames harming the family as doing his duty and directs racist hostility toward Halloran. The drink can foreshadow that advocacy. A winter association may add another layer, but it does not establish the party’s date or prove a contradiction with the July 4 photograph.
