No.26- Wendy and Danny enter hedge maze, hedge maze map eclipses entrance

The sound plays through No.26, across Jack throwing the tennis ball in the lobby, ending with Wendy and Danny talking: “Didn’t think it would be this big did you? Nope”.

Linking these three sequences with music supersedes and cements the visual semiotics that links The Hedge Maze experience of No.26 (playful chase) and the Hedge Maze experience of No.81/No.82 (survival/harmful chase). It cements Danny’s fear of Room 237 with the real threat of living with Jack Torrance, and communicates The Grady Girls as more of a warning than the threat itself. It also creates the feeling of whimsy/dream like experience around Jack’s work, the center of the maze, and Jack’s feelings about Danny (directly foreshadowing No.45, No.53, No.63, No.69, No.79, No.88)
