Ullman Styled as Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam is an image that’s essentially the personification of America. He’s famous for being used in military enlistment posters— so he’s also tied to militarism, patriotism and “us vs them” mentality.

Having the general manager of the hotel styled like this character is a choice. The red striped shirt, the deep navy blue blazer, seated in front of an eagle statue, as he talks about atrocities that happened. It’s a heavy handed subtext that feeds into the American History narrative.
