Generations and What Is Passed Down

A theme on both the literal nature of Generations; Grady and his daughters, Jack and Danny, Halloran and his Grandmother, and if you’ve read the book, Watson and his familial lineage of The Overlook; the theme of generations also carries historical implications.

Americans are a nation of immigrants yet are still American.

Alcoholism, and addictions in general, are usually passed down in familial lines.

Domestic Violence and Abuse is also carried out across generations; both in the microcosm of individuals and the macro implications within societies and nations. Violence and racism is passed down and learned, as is the patriarchal way of interacting with the space around you, with others, and with oneself.
