Jack, as a father, is mainly shown disconnected and disinterested in Danny except to threaten him.
There are moments where Danny mimics Jack’s behavior in dismissing Wendy and her concerns (No.9), and maybe most importantly, in rejecting what they don’t want to see:

On a cultural level, it is important to note that Jack is threatened by Danny’s great talent (a line delivered by a fabrication of Jack), and that this behavior is exhibited in real life with older generations and the concern for the younger ones.
Halloran shows himself to be caring and concerned about Danny, a spiritual father. While Jack goes to lengths to harm his family by sabotaging a snowcat and radio, Halloran goes to great lengths to help.
