Spoken by The Grady Girls in No.38, its sentiment that reflects No.4’s “There’s hardly anybody to play with around here” and Danny’s loneliness, but it also reflects the impending harm Danny will experience. It’s telling Danny to be dead, or saying he’ll be dead soon.
The line includes “forever, and ever, and ever”, which will be reiterated by Jack in No.41 as he tells Danny how he wishes they could stay.. forever, and ever, and ever.
The two linked together create the feeling that Jack’s connected to the hotel, but it also communicates that the Grady Girls are showing Danny what’s to come.
