Isolation

Isolation, often used as a justification for Jack’s actions, is a gendered experience.

Wendy (and Danny) are shown isolated or spending time together— even before going to the hotel.

The seclusion was *the point* of the site of The Overlook. Isolation was baked in, but the access and resources to come and go whenever they pleased is still available to Jack (with the VW bug) while Wendy has a home visit from the Dr/Social Worker, and the snowcat exists (from No.14).

So Isolation itself is a human experience, but the difficulties proving fatal/murderous, are a gendered centric one.

Who Is Tony

Danny’s Tony here is not the true “Tony.” It is done for Wendy’s benefit, as a deflection.

It can be assumed that Danny (and Wendy) is already in isolation (See Cabin Fever Narrative)
