Saturation + Vibration as Indicator

Color saturation and vibrancy as an indicator for emotional intensity

Kubrick uses color as an indicator for emotional intensity. The more saturated a color, the more heightened the emotions around the character, setting, or scene.

A Month Later, pastels and the conversation is the most pleasant between Jack and Wendy.

TUES, bolder more more saturated colors and the interaction is more brazenly aggressive and abusive.

Consider throughout the .film, the saturation in both the settings and in the wardrobe. Danny’s sweater, while not saturated itself, is shown with a saturated background (inside the side board and the white blue of the snow in the hedge maze), both choices change the color shown in the sweater, influencing its messaging.
