Torrances as Employees

Jack and Wendy both have outfits that mimic the outfits chosen for The Overlook employees.

In No.3, right as the film opens and Jack walks inside the hotel, he crosses paths with a waiter who wears the same burgundy velvet blazer shown with Lloyd and the male employees. Jack will be wearing a corduroy jacket but the same burgundy color. Kubrick will frame these two things together in No.47.

Female employees wear a long sleeve shirt and an A-line skirt. Wendy is also shown wearing the same thing but only in The Closing Day sequences.

It signifies that Jack is definitely an employee and not The Chosen One as his fantasies would have you feel, and that Wendy has also become an employee (See: Jack’s Work).

In The American History Narrative, it speaks to Jack and Wendy carrying out the American way.
