Great Party, Isn’t It?

Great party isn’t it- another metaphor to hunting party and it’s metaphorical association with Jack and Danny in the maze.

It’s also a direct metaphor to No.53, Jack walking in on the Gold Room as Jack’s entryway into “All The Best People”- and how that group is not so great.

This line is Wendy’s “realization” of that as she sees Halloran’s dead body. The realization that those who run the country, throughout history, have been just as greedy, violent, and devastating as Jack, and that lack of seriousness related to that devastation.

The levity and frivolity of the tone in The Gold Room, shown here, especially after seeing Jack murder- Wendy discovering a murdered body- it cements the seriousness of the country is not treated as serious by the elites in power. It speaks to the 1921’s the hard partying socialites and the crashes and devastation of the country.

As Wendy runs through the hallway, multiple cases of artifacts and cultural artworks are shown. The devastation of an entire nation of people reduced to a display case for the conquerers. She’s seeing this. We’re all seeing this.

Great Party Isn’t It?

Whether this ghost is stuck at the Gold Room or referring to Jack’s “hunting party” of Danny, it’s a line delivered after Wendy discovers Halloran’s dead body.
