Since the majority of the film takes place with only the Torrance’s, we see guests in only a few moments.
First in the Lobby as we meet Jack, then as we see the Closing Day sequences play out. After this, we see them as ghosts in the Gold Room Ballroom, as skeletons as Wendy cycles through her trail of awareness.

The Standing Skeleton as a Welcome
The standing skeleton at the left of No.85 reflects the maître d’ welcoming Jack into the Gold Room in No.53. The compositional role repeats: a figure stands beside the entrance to a gathering. In Wendy’s version, that welcome leads directly into the visible remains of the party.
