Danny’s awareness is pretty stellar for a 5-6 year old kid, not just around his parents and their issues, but around the hotel and others around him.
He holds his own with a grown man who runs the kitchen. Challenging him, taking ownership of the conversation by asking if Halloran’s afraid of the hotel.
During No.50 when Danny sees the blood pouring from The Elevator while his parents argue, you could say that he could hear the fight, but the location of the living space from The Colorado Lounge is a distance away and Kubrick repeats the same connection in No.64. Danny is shown actively aware of what is happening around him, regardless of where he’s physically located.
He’s also the one who sees The Elevator blood sequence in his mind, but Wendy is the one to experience it in real life.
