“You’ve Had Your Whole Life”

Unfortunately this is true in abundance. Across the movie, Wendy is shown actively ignoring the truth around her either by tv/other activity/not listening/being asleep/playing it off, "your dad just has a headache”, etc.

Through her denial— both of Jack’s true nature (No.7, No.47) and the harm it does both her and Danny (No.7, No.65/No.66), she’s pushed herself into a corner—physically/spatially signified by Jack talking her up to a staircase.

It is also judging abuse victims for their inability to get out.

Compare No.54 with No.71, where Danny moves through the same part of the room. Here Wendy’s planning is interrupted by REDRUM from Danny’s bedroom. In No.71, she sleeps while he repeats the warning; her recognition leads into Jack’s axe attack in No.72. No.64 and Image 1437 make Jack’s exploitation of her need to think explicit.
