Setting

Room 237 Bathroom

The bathroom of Room 237 is vibrant green, lined with yellow, with a pink floor band. There’s a white floral shower curtain, and a set of chrome rails and pipe work under the sinks. The sinks, shower heads, a toilet and a bidet— all doubling.

This is a conceptually amalgamated space; the shower curtain reflects the floral patterns we see in The Boulder Bathroom (No.6), and the florals we see in No.4 and in the West Wing Living Space, No.13.

The green is a vibrant version of The Green Hallway, Jack’s T-shirt (No.24), and the green chair rail from The Games Room (No.12). There is also the same color green in a curtain peeking over the one in the Boulder Apartment Bathroom (No.6).

The sink design (and the chrome rails) are shown in Danny’s bedroom within the West Wing Living Space.

The pink floor banding— this could have easily just been a design, and it might be- but there aren’t a lot of places where floor designs are created. One of them is easily The Lobby, where Halloran walks right into a trap laid by Jack. The woman within the Bathroom waits in the middle of this space and lures Jack to her.

Creating such an intense space from other parts in the hotel bring those experiences to this one. Danny’s insecurity around coming to the hotel, Danny’s current room within the hotel, Danny in front of the floral wallpaper as he’s interrupted by Jack, and Danny hiding from Jack for his life are all being referenced here.

The green bathroom’s repeated frames and mirror organize the encounter in Room 237.
