Setting

The Elevator Hallway

Referring to the location shown during Danny’s mental images (No.6, No.50, No.64), and Wendy’s trail of awareness(No.87), this space is not shown to be connected to any specific part of the hotel.

The hallway is styled as a mirrored reflection on the vertical axis and a style reflection in its structure. There are multiple loveseats and framed photos line the hall. In the center is a reflected composition of a loveseat and a Native American blanket.

This Native American blanket has a red and black pattern that shows up across other parts of the hotel: It’s a piece of the bathroom in The Gold Room, it’s in a blanket that shows up in No.66 and No.81, and it shows up in the final scene— replacing the mirrors.

The floor is lined with a red and black banding, the same as the floor in The Exit Hallway and pieces of The Lobby.

The hallway leading up to The Elevator Hallway contains furniture from The Gold Room so it can be assumed that it’s related, this coupled with the fact that it’s also bathed in red (like the Gold Room Bathroom)— conceptually links all the space AND the information we learn from the scenes.
