Setting

The Exit Hallway

Referring to the hallway we see Wendy and Jack run through, it leads outside (as we see Halloran open the door from the outside) but it’s not entirely clearly where it’s connected to.

It’s an amalgamated space; entirely constructed from elements pulled from other parts in the hotel and therefore contains the information in the scenes they’re referencing.

In the far background is a red and black Native American blanket where we see the pattern in The Gold Room Bathroom, The Elevator Hallway, and the final sequence.

The black and red banding is from The Lobby & The Elevator Hallway, the inclusion of The Elevator seems practical but not necessary (as the hotel isn’t real). Its inclusion is conceptual.

The space continues to include A Flock of Loons, artwork shown as Watson enters Ullman’s Office.

The dog portrait is pulled from No.51 as Jack stares at balloons and streamers on The Lobby floor.

The brown and green Native American blanket is pulled from The Elevator Hallway and is the other blanket from the final sequence.

The chair shown is Jack’s work chair.

The Native American children portraits on either side of the door are shown around the West Wing Living Quarters and during the No.80 scene with the bear + tuxedo man.

The design in the doors is the Native American symbol for “Medicine Man” or “knowledge”.
