Overlook as Maze

There is ample evidence in treating The Overlook as a literal maze.

The most literal connection would be in Ullman’s statement that the external hedge maze is as old as the hotel itself, Jack’s leering over the maze model and the transition to Wendy and Danny inside of the hedge maze, and the multitude of spatial connections and disconnections made across the film.

It takes the Kubrick as Unreliable Narrator theme and softens the meta-layer of his intention.
