I identify Jack’s checked jacket with gamekeeper tweed and its association with hunting. Gamekeeper tweed belongs to a tradition of durable field clothing; estate tweeds use colors and patterns suited to the local landscape so that gamekeepers and stalkers can blend into their surroundings. Particular estate patterns also signify belonging to the landowner’s family or staff. This history gives the jacket’s pattern a connection to camouflage, hunting, and hierarchy within my reading of the scene. Campbell’s of Beauly: estate tweed · Gamekeeper’s tweed
