Male Rage and Its Consequences

The Shining has a lot of instances of male rage and an equal amount of excuses for why this rage is justified.

It is particularly American for both the rage and the excuses to be present. For Wendy to be blamed, for cabin fever to be a reason, but both Wendy and Danny are experiencing the same amount of forced isolation (and without their choice in the matter), but aren’t committing murder.

Male Rage as American History

The red, white, black and blue palette reflects No.18, No.53 and No.78. I read male rage and its consequences through American history.
