Mirrored Compositions on the X Axis

The first shot of the film has a literal mirrored composition on the x axis: the mountains reflected in the body of water.

Conceptually, Kubrick also achieves this effect with color. In No.3 where Jack walks across the Lobby, we see gold curtains and a red couch. On the floor directly in front of it is is an art deco design in red and gold.
