“Perfectly Normal Human Being / Killed His Family with an axe”
Perfectly normal people don’t kill their families.
This sentence at once deals with how abusers don’t show their abusive side to those outside of the abuse, how countries can have good and helpful pieces AND murderous atrocities in their history, and how we (as viewers, as society), have a hard time fathoming those two pieces together.

The Caretaker’s Story Repeated
No.5 describes a caretaker killing his family with an axe and placing their bodies in the West Wing. No.72 and Image 1622 bring that account into the same corridor. “It’s hard to believe it happened here. But, it did” returns as something Wendy and Danny are trying to survive.
