Jacks History of Violence with Danny

Jack’s history of violence with Danny

[No.7, No.47, No.71/No.72, No.79, No.81, No.82, No.84, No.86, No.88]

specially where Danny is around his workspace [No.7, No.23, No.40/No.41]

Deeply seated within the Domestic Abuse narrative, Jack is openly aggressive with Danny in a multitude of ways. From his version of The Incident, Wendy’s version, the fact that Danny’s afraid of his father and the menacing tone that greets Danny (validating the fear), to attacking Wendy for caring more about their son than him; what is superficially explained as ghost or a hotel’s influence is in actuality Jack’s anger around Danny, Jack’s failure to be responsible, and Danny within Jack’s workspace is the ongoing tension that is visibly present throughout the entire film.

On a conceptual level, this aggression and hatred can be viewed within the American History lens as people in control rob the younger generations of their future for their own selfish gains.
