The Gold Room, or The Gold Ballroom, is an entertainment space within The Overlook. It’s shown during Closing Day and in sequences with Jack engaging with it like it’s an active bar and party space.
Its walls are covered in gold tiles and the floor is a carpet showing a geometric design featuring gold, tan, and pink. The colors are reflected within The Bedroom of the West Wing Living Space.
It also contains green felt tables, shown in The Games Room, and bright red couches, shown within The Colorado Lounge.
Jack heads to The Gold Room in response to stress in his life. First in No.46 and No.47 in response to No.45, and then No.53 is a direct response to No.50 and Wendy’s request to leave the hotel for Danny’s safety.
It is within this space that Jack’s alcoholism, the consequences of his choices, and the depths of his rage are shown.
